T: Who’s absent? Is classroom ready for the lesson?

Pd: Yes, it is. The classroom is clean, the duster is wet. There is a piece of chalk on the blackboard. That’s why I think that the classroom is ready for the lesson.

II  Motivation. Formulation  of  the  theme.

As you know very well, English is, first of all, a means of communication that is a speaking language. Learning of any foreign language is connected with grammar and vocabulary. Of course, at our lessons we learn grammar rules, such as tense forms of the verb, plural of nouns, possessive forms of nouns, degrees of comparison of adjectives, etc. But there is no grammar for the sake of grammar. The ultimate aim of language learning is the ability to speak. You should be able to express your thoughts in another foreign language, in this case English.

T: Can you guess what we are going to talk today?

P1: I think we’ll answer the questions on topics which we know.

T: Partly, you are right. I’d like you to speak on different themes in the forms of dialogues. You can do it, because you were trained in it. That’s why at our today’s lesson at first we’ll generalize themes which we had learnt before. After that we’ll read new text and discuss it.

III Updating the knowledge of reference.

Let’s take for our conversation such topics as “My house”, “My pet”, and “My school”.

1. T: We all live somewhere: in a house or a flat. Home is a sacred place. Home is the place where we can come with our troubles, where we are understood,  where we invite our friends and have fun. At home peaceful claims and happy duties win gently on us day by day. At home we can find consolation which can’t be found anywhere. There is such English proverb “My home is my castle”. We strive to set up our home and make it as comfortable as possible. Whether it’s a room, apartment or a house, this is a reflection of our preferences and desires. We demonstrate our home to others and try to know how other people live. And now let’s hear the conversation between two pupils, one of which asks questions and the other one describes his house.

Dialogue №1  “My house”

P1:  ………., Where do you live?

P2: I live in a new house in Voronthovka, Yeskiy district.

P2: It is rather big and light. There is a window in this room. There is a bed with a wardrobe near the wall. There is a desk and chair in front of the window. Above the desk there are several book-shelves with books.

T: Have you got any garden?                                T: And what about you?

The Big Lion and the Little Mouse

One morning a big lion meets a little mouse. The little mouse is afraid of the big lion. The lion says to the mouse: “I can kill you.”

The mouse asks the lion not to kill her. And the lion does not kill the mouse. The mouse is very happy. She thanks the lion and says that some day she can help him. But the lion laughs. He does not understand how a little mouse can help a big lion.

One day a man wants to catch the lion. So he puts up a net. The lion is very hungry. He does not see the net and falls into it. Now he cannot get out and begins to roar.

The little mouse lives not far from that place. She hears the lion and runs out of her house. She sees the lion in the net and runs up to him.

The little mouse wants to help the big lion. She begins to bite off the cords with her teeth. The mouse bites off one cord. Then she bites off one cord after another. Now the lion is free.

So the little mouse helps the big lion.

2. T: How did the mouse help the lion?

P: She bit cords of the net in which the lion fell.

P: She didn’t just help him. She saved him. The mouse remembered that the lion spared her. And when the big lion found himself in difficult situation the little mouse could save his life.

T: How did the lion react at first when the mouse said that she would help him?

P:  At first the lion laughed at the mouse, because he didn’t believe how that little mouse could help him.

T: The relationship between characters in fairy tales reflects the relationship among the people in the life.  The life proves that some little people may have a lot of dignities and valued qualities. We can have the trust in some people and disappointment in others, because we estimate the person in his actions.

VII Conclusion.

As you can see, learning English is a long, difficult and gradual process. From lesson to lesson, from class to class, step by step you make your knowledge wider and deeper. Concerning English, it is one thing to know grammar, words, pronunciation, to be able to read, and quite another thing is to be able to speak English, moreover, to think and express your thoughts in English. That is an ultimate aim and you should have a desire to achieve this aim.

2. Write out the verbs in the present simple tense:

a) affirmative form;
